Australia Customs and Documentation
Australian Customs (Australian Border Force) requires Unaccompanied Personal Effects Statement (Form B534), passport copy, valid Australian visa or citizenship, complete itemised inventory, and a declaration of all items. Personal effects owned for at least 12 months by a person moving to Australia are typically duty-free. We file all paperwork through a licenced Australian customs broker partner.
Australia-Specific Restrictions
Australia has the strictest biosecurity rules of any destination we serve. The Department of Agriculture inspects all containers. Wood, leather, plant material, food, and outdoor equipment receive close scrutiny. We recommend washing and drying outdoor furniture, gardening tools, sports equipment, and shoes before packing to avoid quarantine fees. Wood furniture must be insect-free, treated, and fumigation certificates ready. Items that fail inspection face cleaning fees, treatment fees, or destruction at owner cost. Our packing process is built around this.
Dubai to Australia FAQ
LCL from AED 6,200 per cubic metre. A 20ft container is typically AED 21,000 to 27,000 all-in. A 40ft container is AED 32,000 to 40,000. Inland delivery and quarantine inspection fees can add AED 1,500 to 4,000 depending on what is being shipped. Air freight is significantly faster but 4 to 5 times the per-kg cost.
Sea freight is 32 to 45 days door-to-door. Sydney and Melbourne are typically 33 to 38 days; Perth is 35 to 42 days; Adelaide and Brisbane between. Add 5 to 10 working days for customs and quarantine clearance, more if biosecurity inspection requires treatment. Air freight is 7 to 11 days.
Very strict. The Department of Agriculture inspects most containers. Common issues: dirt on shoes or outdoor equipment, food residue, wooden items not properly treated, pet hair on furniture. We pre-inspect and clean items as part of our packing to minimise quarantine flags. If your container fails inspection, treatment fees range from AUD 200 to AUD 2,000 depending on severity.
Standard transit insurance is included up to a declared value. We strongly recommend all-risk insurance for the Dubai-Australia route at 1.5 to 2.5 percent of declared value, given the long transit time and quarantine handling. Full terms in your quote.
