UK Customs and Documentation
UK customs (HMRC) requires a complete inventory list, original passport copy, proof of UK residence (rental agreement, council tax bill, or job contract), and ToR (Transfer of Residence) form for personal effects. We prepare and submit this on your behalf. Personal household items are duty-free if you have lived outside the UK for at least 12 months and intend to remain in the UK for at least 12 months.
UK-Specific Restrictions
British customs are strict on prohibited items: do not pack any food, fresh produce, plants, animal products (leather, ivory, fur), weapons, or alcohol over personal allowance. Electronics over 20 years old need separate declaration. Antiques over 100 years old require an export licence from UAE side and may need import documentation in UK. We handle household goods and personal effects only; vehicles and live animals are not part of our service.

Costs depend on volume, freight method, and destination city. As a guide, LCL shipments start from AED 4,500 for 1 cubic metre; a 20ft container is typically AED 14,000 to 18,000 all-in to a UK port; a 40ft container ranges AED 22,000 to 28,000. Air freight is faster but 3 to 4 times the cost per kilogram. We provide a fixed quote after a free home survey.
Sea freight is 21 to 28 days door-to-door under normal conditions, occasionally up to 35 days during peak season (October to December). Air freight is 5 to 7 days. Add 3 to 5 working days for UK customs clearance and final delivery to your address.
Yes. Our team prepares your inventory list, ToR (Transfer of Residence) form, and all customs declarations. We work with a UK customs agent for clearance. You will need to provide a passport copy, proof of UK address, and confirmation that the items have been in your possession for at least 6 months.
Yes, with proper packing and documentation. Electronics need to be listed individually with serial numbers and approximate values. Items under warranty travel best in original boxes. We do not recommend shipping fragile high-value items like fine art or antiques in a shared LCL container, a sole 20ft FCL is safer.
Yes. We offer secure storage in Dubai before shipment if your move-out date does not align with the container booking. UK-side storage can be arranged on request through our partner network for AED 200 to 400 per cubic metre per month.
Standard transit insurance is included up to a declared value. For higher-value cargo, we offer all-risk insurance at 1.5 to 2 percent of declared value. We strongly recommend it for FCL shipments. Insurance details are itemised in your quote.
