USA Customs and Documentation
US Customs (CBP) requires Form 3299 (Declaration for Free Entry of Unaccompanied Articles) for personal effects, complete inventory with declared values, copy of passport, US visa or green card, and proof of US address. Personal household goods you have owned and used for at least one year qualify for duty-free entry under the Returning Resident exemption. We prepare and submit all paperwork through our US customs broker partner.
USA-Specific Restrictions
US customs prohibits food items, fresh produce, plants, soil, animal products (leather goods over 100 years old need CITES paperwork), weapons, and certain medications. The FDA, USDA, and FCC regulate specific categories: electronics need FCC compliance, cosmetics need FDA labelling. Antiques and art above a certain value may need additional declaration. Alcohol is heavily restricted to personal allowance only, typically two bottles per adult.
Dubai to USA FAQ
Your shipping cost to the USA depends on your volume, whether you ship by sea (a shared LCL load or a full 20ft or 40ft container) or by air, and how far the inland delivery is beyond the port. We give one fixed, all-inclusive quote after a free home survey or WhatsApp photos, with customs clearance and documentation handled. Air freight is faster than sea but costs more per kilogram.
Sea freight is 30 to 40 days door-to-door, depending on destination. East Coast destinations are typically 28 to 33 days; West Coast is 35 to 40 days due to longer routing. Add 5 to 7 working days for CBP clearance. Air freight is 6 to 9 days but at significantly higher cost.
Yes. We coordinate with a licenced US customs broker who handles your CBP filing, Form 3299 submission, and clearance at port of entry. You will need to provide passport copy, US visa or green card or work permit, US destination address, and confirmation that you have owned the items for at least one year.
Yes. Dubai-side storage is available in our secure cabins, billed by your volume and duration. US-side warehouse storage in or near the destination port can also be arranged while you finalise your housing. Both are confirmed in your written quote.
Standard transit cover is included for sea and air freight up to a declared value. We strongly recommend all-risk insurance for FCL shipments at a small percentage of declared value. The full insurance terms are documented in your quote.
