India Customs and Documentation
Indian Customs requires a TR (Transfer of Residence) certificate for returning Indian residents who have lived abroad for at least 2 years. This grants duty-free import of personal effects. Required documents: original passport with valid Indian visa or OCI card, return air ticket, complete inventory list with values, and Bill of Lading. We coordinate the TR paperwork through our Indian customs partners.
India-Specific Restrictions
Indian Customs prohibits foreign-origin gold above the personal jewellery allowance, alcohol over the duty-free quota, drone equipment without DGCA permission, satellite phones, and specific electronics. Antiques over 100 years old need export clearance from India side if you ever ship them out. Our service covers household goods and personal effects only; vehicles are not part of what we handle. We advise on document preparation for sensitive items.
